Written by Kelly Sheehy, Content Specialist, Downtown Main Library Once the excitement of the New Year begins to wane by mid-January, we’re often left with gray skies, cold temperatures, and cabin fever. If all you want to do is stay in wrapped up in a cozy blanket, we totally get it. That’s exactly why we created just the thing to help keep you from going stir crazy this season. Beginning January 17 and ending February 29, the Winter Checkout Challenge allows adults to experience much of what the Library has to offer from the comfort of their own home, thanks to our extensive collection of digital resources like eBooks, downloadable music, movie streaming, and more. Sign up by simply printing your tracking card or picking one up from your local Library . Once you sign up you’ll receive a free tote bag that you can pick up at any of our 41 Library locations . You’ll also receive a list of suggested Winter Checkout Challenge activities that fall into four different tracks: books, audio, DIY, and film. Once you complete five activities of your choosing from either the same track or across multiple tracks, write them down on your tracking card and submit it online or in-person to be entered into a drawing to win prizes like museum passes. The Checkout Challenge ends with a wrap-up celebration on Thursday, February 27 at Kroger On the Rhine complete with winter libations, music, DIY showcase, and more. Not sure which activity to choose? Pop by your nearest Branch Library and pull one from our Take a Chance jar, or visit the Winter Checkout Challenge webpage. While the activities can be completed without ever leaving the house, it also provides opportunities to visit a branch or get out into the community and explore some of Cincinnati’s hidden treasures. You can also feel free to complete the same activity multiple times. That still counts too! Be sure to follow @cincylibrary on Facebook , Instagram , and Twitter for flash challenges and the chance to win more prizes. Share your challenge progress with us using #StayInCheckOut. Please visit the Winter Checkout Challenge webpage for more information in the coming weeks. Who knew staying in could be this fun?
