Updated at 12:06 p.m. on March 20, 2020 Recently, we made the difficult decision to close all of our Library locations to the public, starting March 14. We’re assessing the situation weekly, but given the uncertainty of the situation, we can’t yet provide a date when we’ll reopen. As the community pulls together to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, our Library is joining in on the effort. We know that you rely on the Library for resources, information, learning opportunities, and recreation. Here’s what we’re doing right now to continue to serve the community: Providing Customer Service Our Virtual Information Center is open and taking questions via phone, email and online chat Monday – Saturday: 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Cleaning Facilities We are deep-cleaning all of our 41 locations so when the COVID-19 pandemic is under control, we’ll be ready to serve you. Adding Digital Materials to the Collection As the third busiest library in the nation, we know that you love your books, audiobooks, and movies. We’re directing more resources to our digital collection so you can access more copies of in-demand materials and a wider range of offerings. Providing Virtual Learning Opportunities for Kids With schools closed, we know that parents and caregivers are looking for learning opportunities for their kids and teens. Virtual storytimes are available, on-demand, on our YouTube channel and we’re adding more over the next days and weeks. Curating Resources for the Community Libraries have long been a trusted source of information. Given the rapidly-changing landscape we're all trying to navigate, library staff are working to provide needed information, which is posted to our blog daily. For example, we have a list of COVID-19 resources , tips for self-care , kids' resources related to COVID-19 , and more. Continuing Food Service to Youth The Library is continuing to provide snacks and meals to children, ages 0 through 18. This program is funded by the federal government. Connecting with Community Partners We’re keeping in constant communication with our community partners to share information and resources, and when possible, coordinate services for the community, especially our area’s vulnerable populations Ensuring Business Continuity We may be closed to the public, but we are striving to keep critical projects on track, such as work related to the implementation of our Facility Master Plan , including the renovation and expansion of our Price Hill and Walnut Hills Branch libraries. Planning Ahead As the situation evolves, we are positioning ourselves to be ready to ramp up services and reopen our facilities. Staff are working through logistics to ensure that this happens in an orderly and timely manner. The Library is grateful for the support the community has shown and we look forward to continuing to serve you during these difficult times.
