Homework. The “H-bomb” every parent dreads having dropped on them by their kids. Not because they don’t want to help their child, but simply because sometimes they don’t know how. Which is why the Library offers Homework Helpers to provide free homework help to students in kindergarten through eighth grade.

While Emilio Estevez's new film "the public" (shot at the Main Library) centers on adults, youth experiencing homelessness is the focus of a community conversation at the Main Library on April 7. A panel led by Strategies to End Homelessness and Lighthouse Youth & Family Services will discuss the systemic roots, symptoms, and solutions to this growing human rights issue.

The Genealogy & Local History Department will be celebrating this important year in Cincinnati Reds baseball by partnering with the Cincinnati Reds Baseball Hall of Fame & Museum to produce an exhibit in the Cincinnati Room featuring many items from both organizations’ collections. Library to give away free trees this weekend

The Ohio Valley Forest Fellowship and the Federated Garden Clubs of Cincinnati and Vicinity celebrate Arbor Day (April 26) by providing free tree seedlings to Library cardholders. The giveaway will happen this Saturday, March 23. Anyone who checks out an item at any of the Library’s 41 locations during normal business hours can receive a free seedling while supplies last.

Each spring at the Harrison Branch Library, magic happens overnight. Children drop off their stuffed animals at the Library so the critters can participate in the Stuffed Animal Sleepover, one of the most popular children’s events at this location. But it's more than silly play. The kids are learning important early literacy skills.
